Whispers of Carcosa (2016)

Whispers of Carcosa is the third short film from writer-director Pete Yagmin and promises to be his most challenging Whispers of Carcosacinematic production to date.

Initially drafted as Staring into Oblivion, the new title Whispers of Carcosa is a nod to early authors of weird fiction preceding H.P. Lovecraft whom influenced his work.

Fans of the genre may recognize the name Carcosa as the fictional city in the Ambrose Bierce short story An Inhabitant of Carcosa or from the book of short stories by Robert W. Chambers titled The King in Yellow.

Lovecraft borrowed heavily from Chambers and Bierce mentioning names and places  such as The Yellow Sign, Hastur, and Carcosa  throughout his own stories, expanding upon what would later become known as the Cthulhu Mythos.

Also notable, the popular HBO series True Detective is largely inspired – if not borrowing directly from Chambers’ book.

The film is currently in pre-production scheduled to start principal photography in late Fall / early Winter of 2015.
